In October, 1980, the people of St. Michael the Archangel sealed our parish Covenant with God during a day-long celebration, following many months of consultation and prayer. Over the years, the covenant, reproduced below, has come to be celebrated on St. Michael's feast day too.

Covenant of St. Michael's Parish

We, the people of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, hereby recognize the fact that God is our God and that we are His people. We acknowledge the uniqueness of God's unconditional love. Therefore, we wish to respond to that love by living as His people through this Covenant:
cross

Christ is present among us when we gather as a worshiping community to hear the Word, to celebrate the Sacraments and to share the Eucharist;
Therefore, we will provide the opportunity for liturgical celebration of the Eucharist and the sacraments which takes into account the varied experiences and needs of our people and which will implement the direction and guidelines given to us by the Church.

Religious education, which is the formation of our faith is a life-long process;
Therefore, we will search for more effective ways to learn the meaning of Christ's teaching as it is experienced at all age levels.

Each human being has value and dignity as a child of God:
Therefore, we will develop a spirit of community in which the concerns of society will be met with Christian charity and justice.

True community is formed when people know and love one another in a spirit of celebration;
Therefore, we will continue to reach out to one another in joy, socializing with and appreciating the individuals who make up our Parish family.

The vast size of our Parish presents limitations to developing personal relationships;
Therefore, we will improve communications, and encourage the formation of small group gatherings for prayer, study and/or socializing.

Our Parish family is transitional and ever-growing;
Therefore, we acknowledge our responsibility to welcome each person and to create a warm environment where our sometimes rootless selves can feel a sense of home.

The church buildings serve as a sign of our Catholic faith and the focal point of all parish life;
Therefore, we will provide a place of worship and community to fulfill those needs.

This Covenant can only be accomplished by the cooperative effort of all members of St. Michael's Parish;
Therefore, we pledge our time, talents and resources in order to live out this Covenant for the glory of God and the good of our neighbor.
