St. michael's Ministries - the way of the steward

"As committed members of
this parish my husband and I have and will continue to respond
to the call for Christian giving by accepting the obligations
that this community has undertaken and give of our time and
treasure as best we can. As we make decisions as to how much
of our time and treasure to give, our guideline is simply based
on the word of Pope John Paul II... 'You must take of your
substance and not just of your abundance in order to help...'" |

"We are all going to have
to account for ourselves one day. St. Paul tells us that we
must be careful of how we build upon this foundation, be careful
of what we have done with what we have been given. Through
stewardship we are afforded the opportunity to make a good
accounting of ourselves. To guard against the things that destroy
God's temple — the things that make money, prestige,
power or status gods in our lives." |

"I began to realize that
everything labeled mine had been given as a gift from God — I
was merely a caretaker." "Does being a Christian mean that I have to change? The answer is yes! If I believe what is taught by the Church then it becomes my duty to be all that my baptism requires... If we believe in God, stewardship is not a choice, it is demanded. Stewardship is about giving back to God and the community the gifts that have been given to you." |
