What is a catechist? A catechist is any person
of faith who is hospitable, a good listener, patient, wise, mature,
open-minded, and caring.
What does a catechist do? Every catechist is called to grow in faith
and witness to the gospel and church. The catechist not only teaches
about religion and doctrine, the catechist also shares the ways
in which God has been present in his or her own life.
As a catechist, you can make a difference. Each catchists's uniqueness
is a special gift to the young people s/he serves.
Here are a few of our men and women who presently volunteer or who
have volunteered their time, talent and endless energy to the catechesis
of our parish children. Our program includes classes for children
4 years old to high school. We offer the materials and training
sessions to help you learn how to teach and share our Catholic faith.
Are you interested in serving as a parish catechist? We still have
openings for the 2004-2005 school year on Tuesdays, Wednesdays,
and Thursdays. Please contact the
Religious
Education office via email or by calling 303-690-7697.
If you work with children or want to work with children,
you must complete the Safe Environment Training. For a schedule
of upcoming diocesan-wide training sessions, see
www.archden.org/
or contact
Rochelle
Nepute by email or at 303-715-3241.
