Sacramental Preparation

Confirmation
Confirmation is the Sacrament in which one is enriched by the gift of the Holy Spirit and bound more perfectly to the Church. It strengthens us and obliges us to be witnesses to Christ by word and deed and to spread and defend the faith. It is the Sacrament in which one enters into full membership in the Catholic Church.

Typically, children are baptized as infants, receive First Eucharist in elementary school, and are confirmed in high school.

Preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Michael's is offered to both youth and adults. We have separate Confirmation preparation programs for high school youth and for adults, described below.

The Rite of Confirmation is celebrated once each year, typically in April or May, and is presided over by the Bishop or a priest specifically delegated to administer this Sacrament.

For adults and children not baptized Catholic, or who have not received First Eucharist, or who have not been in a practicing Catholic environment, the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults and Children (RCIA) may be the appropriate path to full initiation in the Catholic Church. Please call the Religious Education office at 303-690-7697 or email Jim Peters, Director of Religious Education.
