FLYERS

You all know that Sandy is all about flyers and how they got their name, right?  Well, here are a few of the flyers that have been handed out over the year for Workcamp.

WORKCAMP INFORMATION

What is Workcamp?
Each summer, St. Michael's send its youth on a mission of service to spend one week repairing homes of those in need.  Over the past years, the Workcamp team has traveled all over the US (and even into Mexico) to repair homes of needy residents.

Workcamp offers you an opportunity to:
     -
Live out your faith commitment
     -Accomplish some genuinely meaningful work
-Meet some motivated Christian youth from all over the country
-Build a deeper relationship with God and with your church and community
-Have the time of your life

Over the past 15 years St. Michael's has sent hundreds of youth and adults on these missions of service.  We have a strong and enthusiastic tradition of service.  You are heartily invited to share this wonderful experience.

Who may attend?
Youth must be AT LEAST in the 9th grade for the 2003-2004 academic year to be eligible to attend St. Michael's Lapwai Idaho mission trip.

Requirements:
-Participation in Youth Group Workcamp Gatherings - before we depart for the Workcamp experience
-Attendance at service projects sponsored by St. Michael's Youth Activities Team.
     -Participation in Workcamp fundraisers
-Participation in both Workcamp Instructional days
     -Participation in Break Out activities
-A GOOD ATTITUDE AND AN OPEN MIND!!!!

Workcamp is a great adventure! You will be sharing a week in very close quarters with other people your age and you will be undertaking some difficult challenges.  Participation is the key to preparing yourself for these challenges.

We meet on the 1st Sunday of every month at 7:00PM in Syrianey Hall.  We also meet once a month for a breakout and once a month for a service activity.  Please make sure you keep an updated calendar of events. (You can pick one up from the youth bulletin board)

Costs
Each Workcamp participant agrees to two methods of preparation.
-First, each participant agrees to raise the basic trip fee.  This fee covers the purchase of construction material and meals while we are at camp as well as travel expenses.
-Secondly, each participant agrees to serve in projects that support the St. Michael's community, other communities that need our services and in projects that will defray the common costs for the group.  Included in this fund are costs related to transportation rentals and group expenses during travel to and from the Workcamp site.

NOTE
We have endeavored to reduce the costs as much as possible.  Each Workcamp participant makes an agreement to raise the trip fee and to participate fully in the service projects.  Fundraising projects will help defray the cost of the entire group as well as personal funds for any Workcamper who actively participates.
The actual cost for the 2004 Workcamp experience is $550.00 per participant

Deposits:
There is a $100.00 deposit required to reserve your space on the Workcamp mission trip due by January 4, 2004.

The trip fee:
Participants are encouraged to ask support from family and friends in their mission work.  The Workcamp leadership will assist youth in any way possible as they compose their letters of appeal to their contacts.  This method is remarkably successful for our workcampers.  Copies of sample letters are available, but each participant is encouraged to write their own original letter.  All checks to Workcampers must be made payable to St. Michael the Archangel Church 19099 E. Floyd Ave. Aurora, CO  80013.  Please write the workcampers name on the memo line of every check.  All checks collected must be turned in to St. Michael's Workcamp.  Please discourage any donations made payable to individuals.  All donations are tax deductible.
First 1/2 payment is due by February 1, 2004.  The final payment is due by April 4, 2004.

Excess funds raised:
Many camp participants raise much more than their personal trip fee.  In these cases, dollars raised will go into the general pool of funds to help cover group expenses.  None of these funds can be turned over to the participant.

If you have any questions or concerns you may call the youth office at 303-690-6797 X18.  You may register for Workcamp at any High School Youth event or in the Youth Office.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

PLEASE NOTE THAT SAINT MICHAELS CANNOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, REFUND ANY MONEY TO A PARTICIPANT OR DONOR IF A PARTICIPANT DROPS OUT OF THE PROGRAM.
