Ministry Responsibility Description
The requirements for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion as enumerated in the Archdiocese of Denver per the Pastoral Handbook, chapter 5.4.10:
That the candidates whom mandation is being requested have been fully initiated into the Church with the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
That the candidates are of sufficient Christian maturity, have a definite relationship to the parish or institution to be served, give evidence of a character and way of life that reflects a serious and well-formed faith and moral commitment, and are at least age 16 and Confirmed.
That the candidates for mandation publicly affirm the magisterium of the Church, are in good standing in the Church, and, if married, in a regular marital situation. To be in good standing in the Church simply means being in a state of grace –able to receive Holy Communion. A regular marital situation simply means being in a sacramental marriage – married in the Church. Further, single people should be living chaste lives.
